Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a recording method of low voltage operation without utilizing Coulomb's force by electrically penetrating liquid ink with a voltage corresponding to a signal to raise the ink and contacting and transferring the raised ink to a recording surface.
CONSTITUTION: Since a double electric boundary layer is produced on the edge surface 11 of a dielectric member 10 so that the edge surface 11 side is negative and liquid ink 21 side is positive, the ink 21 moves from a positive electrode 40 to a negative electrode 300 side. Accordingly, the ink 21 is accumulated in bonded edge 201 and hence 202 by an electric osmosis, and a raised ink 22 is formed in response to the amplitude of applied voltage Vc. The raised liquid ink 22 is adhered and transferred to the recording surface 501 of a recording sheet 500 urged to the edge surface 202. When the recording surface is moved, variable density ink transfer 23 corresponding to the amplitude of the negative voltage Vc can be obtained.
