Abstract
PURPOSE:To decrease the coefft. of friction of a welding wire within a feed path and to improve the feed characteristics of the wire considerably by working the surface of the wire to specific surface roughness. CONSTITUTION:The outside circumferential surfaces of feed rolls 11, 11 making rolling contact with a welding wire 15 are formed to a curved shape and lines 11a- of such prescribed pitched at which flaws of about maximum 0.5-10mum in surface roughness are formed on the surface of a welding wire 15 are inscribed on the surfaces of said rolls. Hence, when the wire 15 is grasped by the rolls 11, 11 and a feed motor 10 is started, it is fed to the feed direction beta side while it is pressed by the rolls 11, 11 whereby the prescribed surface roughness is formed on the surface of the wire 15. Hence, the feed characteristics are made much better than those when conventional specular finished welding wires are fed.
