Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize a 10-bit sequential comparison type analog-digital converter (ADC) by using 128 unit capacitors, by adding a resistance voltage divider, a switch array and a decoding circuit to the ADC having a sampling and a holding function. CONSTITUTION:As a synchronizing signal is applied to a terminal 124, switches 101-202 are as shown in the figure and when an analog signal is applied to a terminal 121, capacitors 103-110 are charged up to prescribed potentials. Then, the 1st operation timing signal 126 changes over the switches 101 and 120 and a line L1 is disconnected from the middle-point tap of a resistance voltage divider 201. In this state, sequential comparing operation is started and a successive operation cycle timing signal 126 places the switches at the reference voltage 122 sides one after another to determine the logic ''1'' of the MSB of a switch control code 204. After the output logic is determined from the MSB to the 7th bit, the 8th bit of the output code signal of a sequential comparison register 127 is set to logic ''1'' and a switch (d) in a switch array 202 is turned on to perform the comparing operation again.
