Abstract

PURPOSE: To impart corrosion resistance to a matrix material by a method wherein nickel strike plating is carried out at low current density and, thereafter, plating of a nickel-chrominum alloy is carried out at high current density to certainly plate a nickel-chrominum alloy layer on the matrix material.
CONSTITUTION: In obtaining a nickel-chrominum alloy layer in a mixed solution containing Ni ion and Cr ion by electroplating, at first, nickel strike plating is carried out at low current density, for example, at 1W10A/dm2 and, next, plating of a nickel-chrominum alloy is carried out at high current density, for example, at 5W40A/dm2. Thereby, the nickel strike plating and the plating of the nickel-chromium alloy can be carried out by using a same bath tank and a process is simplified.
