CONSTITUTION:When a high-level pause signal (b) is applied to a timing control circuit 3 to which a drum pulse (a) whose one period equals to one rotation of a ratary drum is applied, the circuit 3 produces an output (c) which rises to a high level after a period T1 from the first rise time of the pulse (b). A pinch roller is detached in response to the signal (c) which is inverted to a high level in a constant relation with the rotating phase of the rotary head, and a magnetic tape stops synchronously with the rotating phase of the drum. In the same way, the magnetic tape starts travelling synchronously with the rotating phase of the drum when the signal (c) is inverted to a low level in a constant relation with the rotating phase of the drum. Thus the disturbance of screen caused by a phase shift between the program which is inserted for recording and the recorded program or the noise caused by the overerasion at the insertion terminal part is prevented to ensure a high-quality editing of insertion.
