Abstract
PURPOSE: To separate an anion and a cation by a caustic soda liquid with a low concn. by a method wherein a zwitter-ion exchange resin is backwashed by water in a separation and regeneration tank to be separated into a cation and an anion and, subsequently, an aqueous caustic soda solution is poured therein to separate into an upper and a lower layers through a liquid phase and a cation in the lower layer is taken out into a cation regeneration tank.
CONSTITUTION: A cation and an anion of which adsorbing capacity is lowered is filled in a separation and regeneration tank 1 and solenoid valves 4, 20 are opened to carry out backwashing with water to separate into the cation and the anion and, next, a solenoid valve 11 is opened to pour an 18W22% aqueous caustic soda solution in a liquid tank 13 into the separation and regeneration tank 1 and the separated cation and a part of the liquid are sent to a cation regeneration tank 19. The liquid is discharged from both tanks 1, 19 to recover the cation and the anion and, after the backwashing with water is carried out, the anion and the cation in both tanks 1, 19 are regenerated by an aqueous caustic soda solution with a concn. of about 4% and hidrochloric acid with a concn. of about 4% respectively and, next, the regenerated anion and the cation are taken out.
