Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform titled prevention with relatively simple processing by crushing and molding the reduced iron formed from a reducing process in a nonoxidizing atmosphere without using any binder and coting the same with an antioxidant.
CONSTITUTION: Reduced iron such as granular reduced ion or reduced iron pellets formed from a production process for various kinds of reduced iron is cooled in a product cooler 2, after which it is crushed with a crushing machine 3 and is molded and briquetted with a molding machine 4. At this time, an inert gas is blown from an inert gas supplying device 5 to the outlet of the cooler 2 and is circulated through the machine 3 and the machine 4, whereby the crushing machine and the machine 4 are put in a nonoxidizing atmosphere. Thereby, the oxidation of the crushed surfaces of the reduced iron is prevnted, and briquettes of high strength can be obtained by the melt-sticking effect of metal without any binder. Such briquettes are put into a stearic acid soln. tank 6, and after the surfaces of the briquettes are coated with stearic acid therein, the briquettes are conveyed to a product yard 7.
