Method for producing thin metal strands from molten metal, particularly steel strands from molten steel, characterised in that the molten metal (2a) is processed inside a chamber protecting against reoxidation by shaping into granular particles (4) in recesses (16) of a granulating device under simultaneous cooling to just under the solidus temperature point, that the hot granular particles (4) directly following this, likewise in the chamber protecting against reoxidation, are homogenised as regards temperature to deformation temperature in a heated container (6) and that the granular particles (4) are then continuously compressed to a strand (9).
