Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent a rotary plate from deforming due to heat and contrive to reduce loss of an oil film by a method wherein a rotary plate and a thrust collar are thermally insulated from each other and the rotary plate is cooled, in a thrust bearing for rotatably supporting a main of a water turbine generator or the like.
CONSTITUTION: A plate-shaped insulating material 8 is placed between the thrust collar 6 and the rotary plate 7, a plurality of heat pipes 9, 9 are provided in the interior of the rotary plate 7 in a radial manner in the vincinity of a sliding surface c, and a plurality of cooling fins 11, 11 are provided at the part of the inside peripheral surface 10 of the rotary plate 7 where the heat pipes 9 are not provided. The heat pipe 9 has a cooling medium sealed in a cooling hole formed therein. When the rotary plate 7 is rotated together with a rotary shaft 4, if the temperature of the plate 7 is raised, the insulating material 8 prevent the transfer of heat from the plate 7 to the thrust collar 6. In addition, the cooling medium contained in the heat pipes 9 is moved to the outer side in the radial direction, is then evaporated by heating by the rotary plate 7 and the vapor flows to the inner side in the radial direction, whereby the heat of the rotary plate 7 is transmitted to the cooling fins 11 and radiated from the fins 11.
