EXAMPLE: 3-Epi-KA-66061.
USE: Having a wide range of antibacterial spectrum, useful as an antibacterial substance of a drug, animal drug, etc. Useful as a starting substance for synthesizing various kinds of derivatives.
PROCESS: The hydroxyl group at the 3-position of a compound shown by the formula II with its amino group protected is oxidized to give a 3-keto compound (3- oxo compound), which is reduced, and amino-protecting group is removed, to give a compound where R1 is hydroxyl group in a compound shown by the formula I.
