Abstract
PURPOSE: The titled resin composition having high flexibility, capable of bonding an unsaturated matrix resin firmly to carbon fibers, comprising an unsaturaged polyester, an epoxy resin, and a cycloolefin ring-containing acid anjydride in a specific ratio.
CONSTITUTION: (A)100Pts.wt. unsaturated polyester resin using diallyl phthalate, etc. as a crosslinking agetn, (B) 5W60pts.wt. epoxy resin, (C) 0.5W1.0 equivalent (based on epoxy equivalent) cycloolefin ring-containing acid anhydride (e.g., tetrahydrophthalic anhydride, etc.) and (D) a curing catalyst (e.g., t-butyl perbenzoate, etc.) for component A are dissolved in a solvent, e.g., acetone, etc. to give a solution, and carbon fibers are impregnated with the prepared solution and heated in a furnace to remove the solvent, to give the desired prepreg.
