Abstract
PURPOSE: The titled intermediate that is obtained using a thermosetting resin composition consisting of an unsaturated resin and a vinyl ester resin as the matrix resin for carbon fiber, thus being suitably used to give formed products with high interlaminar shear strength.
CONSTITUTION: (A) At least one from unsaturated alkyd resins and allyl ester prepolymers bearing 2 or more allyoxycarbonyl groups in the molecule is mixed with (B) a vinyl ester resin obtained by the reaction of an epoxy compound with an unsaturated monobasic acid and the mixture is used as the major component. Further, (C) a catalyst such as tert-butyl perbenzoate is added to the mixture to give a thermosetting resin composition. Then, for example, acetone is added to the composition to prepare a lackuer. Carbon fiber, preferably is previously sized with 0.1W 7wt% of an epoxide resin or vinyl ester resin, is dipped in the lacquer and dried to produce the objective intermediate.
