Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a heat exchanger having a large sectional area of heat transfer and an improved heat exchanging capacity by a method wherein an electric current is applied on metallic fibers magnetically attached to the surface of a metallic pipe to thereby braze the metallic fibers to the surface of the metallic pipe.
CONSTITUTION: A magnet 5 is inserted into a heat transfer pipe 1 and the pipe is rotated and moved in a direction parallel to the magnet 5. The magnetic metallic fibers 4 placed on a supply plate 2 are attached to the surface of the heat transfer pipe 1 at right angles with respect to the latter. When an electric current is applied on the metallic fibers via a current feeding section 3, the portions where the heat transfer pipe 1 and the metallic fibers are in contact are heated to a high temperature so that a brazing metal coated on the surface of the heat transfer pipe or on the end of each ot the metallic fibers 4 is fused to connect the metallic fibers 4 to the heat transfer pipe 1. Thus it is possible to manufacture the heat exchanger by use of a small amount of energy and at low temperature.
