Abstract
A soln heat trap comprises a fully insulated liquid reservoir enclosing one end of a metal heat conductor which collects heat from radiation focused on the exposed tip of the other end of the conductor. Arrangement for high efficiency because only a small part of the heat trap is exposed to a source of heat loss by re-irradiation, convection cooling, etc. The hot tip may be raised to high temps. at the focus of e.g. a parabolic reflector, to produce the thermal gradient for conducting heat to the end immersed in the heater transfer fluid.
