Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the dimensional accuracy of an air gap and improve the function of an iron core, by a method wherein in order to form an air gap in a core of an electromagnetic contactor or the like, the air gap is formed by an electron beam after laminated magnetic steel plates are compressed into a unitary body by rivets or the like with side plates on both sides. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of magnetic steel plates of indented shape are laminated and held between two side plates 3 and fixed by, for instance, rivets 4. Then after shaving coils 6 are mounted on polar surfaces 5 of the core, cutting process of an air gap 7 is performed by an electron beam equipment. With above method the space of the gap is determined by a diameter and a power of the electron beam and does not have to be adjusted by a gauge or the like. And a variation of the gap space caused by rivetting after the adjustment by the gauge does not occur while it is expected in the case of the conventional core, so that the dimensional accuracy of the air gap is improved. Moreover, because of the electron beam process, a heat generation is so low that no strain is applied to the core, so that the iron core of the high quality without any functional trouble is provided.
