Abstract

PURPOSE: To inexpensively obtain a hollow flange which permits reduction in weight and mass production without undergoing casting, forging and cutting out through machining by subjecting a metallic plate to blanking and drawing.
CONSTITUTION: A track-shaped hole 2 of a shape provided continuously with semicircular holes 2b at both ends of a rectangular hole 2a is punched to a metallic plate (particularly steel plate) 1. The plate 1 provided with the hole 2 is then subjected to drawing along its outside circumferential edge, thereby forming an outside circumferential flange 3 projecting perpendicularly to the central part of the plate 1. Drawing is applied along the inside circumferential edge of the hole 2 as well to form an inside circumferential flange 4. Thence, the plate 1 formed with the flanges 3, 4 is bent 90° in the direction where the flange 3 projects, along the boundary lines A, A of the holes 2a and the holes 2b. The resultant butt parts 5 are joined by welding to form a flange half 6. A pair of the halves 6 are then butted respectively at the holes 2b and are so combined as to form a hole of a circular shape. The contact parts thereof are joined by welding, whereby a hollow flange 7 is completed. This flange 7 is optimum for the flange part of parts for vehicles.
