Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a contact material showing superior performance from the early stage of switching by smoothening the surface of an eutectoid plated layer formed on a substrate by pressurization.
CONSTITUTION: An eutectoid plated layer 10 is formed on a substrate 8 by an ordinary method, and the surface of the layer 10 is smoothened by pressurization with a press disk 11, whereby eutectoid particles 9 protruded from the surface are forced into the layer 10 and prevented from falling off. The resulting contact material 12 shows superior performance from the early stage of switching since the surface of the layer 10 is smoothened, and the particles 9 are inhibited from falling off.
