Abstract
PURPOSE:To execute the fine axis aligning of optical fibers, by deforming an elastic member consisting of a magnetic substance, by electromagnetic force. CONSTITUTION:As for optical fibers 1, 1' which are to be made to adhere to each other, tips 2, 2' whose covering has been removed are placed on 4, 4' of a supporting member 3, and an elastic member 6 consisting of a magnetic substance supported by one of them in a cantilever system is hit and is made to contact from below. When this elastic member 6 is inserted into a core gap (d) of an electromagnet 5, and a current is made variable, the core tip is pushed upward by a tip part 6' of the elastic body 6, and the fine axis aligning is executed. As for deformation of the elastic body 6, both absorbing force and repelling force of the electromagnet are utilized optionally.
