Abstract

PURPOSE: To aim at remarkably improving an volumetric efficiency of a Quimby pump, by making the tooth form of one side surface of a tooth on a rotor into a continuous one-point contact tooth form in the first tooth form group for establishing a fluid-tight seal line to give a complete seal, while leaving the tooth form of the other side surface in the conventional tooth form.
CONSTITUTION: The tooth form in the plane of rotation of the outlet side tooth surface 3a', 3b' of a drive rotor 3 and that of the inlet side tooth surface 4a', 4b' of a driven rotor 4 are made into a continuous one-point contact tooth form in the first tooth form group. The opposite side tooth surfaces, that is: the inlet side tooth surfaces 3a", 3b" of the drive rotor 3 and the outlet side tooth surfaces 4a", 4b" of the driven rotor 4 are made into a conventionally well-known trochoidal tooth form. With this arrangement, on another meshed plane of the gear teeth, in other words, on the position remote from the state shown in Fig. c by a substantially half pitch, the mesh of continuous one-point contact tooth form in the first tooth form group is carried out so that seal lines on root cylinders of both rotors 3, 4 are engaged with each other, establishing a sealing line for giving a complete fluid-tight seal, thereby to remarkably improve a volumetric efficiency of a Quimby pump.
