Abstract

PURPOSE:To keep the stability of a loop, by changing the loop gain through the change of the power supply voltage of a phase comparator of a phase-locked loop PLL circuit according to the frequency dividing ratio. CONSTITUTION:A voltage controlling circuit 6 is connected to a variable frequency divider 2 of a PLL circuit. The circuit 6 recevies a signal applied to program terminals P0-P3 of a frequency divider 2 to deliver the signal of voltage VDD' to a phase comparator 3. The voltage VDD' is proportional to the frequency dividing ratio N, the sensitivity of the comparator 3 is proportional to the voltage VDD' and the loop gain is proportional to a prescribed sensitivity of a voltage controlled oscillator 5, then the loop gain is constant independently of the frequency ratio. Thus, even if the change in the frequency dividing ratio N is made greater, the loop stability can not be lost, the high-speed operation request to components can be eliminated and the manufacturing cost of the PLL circuit as a frequency synthesizer can be decreased.
