Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the inspector's fatigue and perform accurate flaw detection by holding the flaw detection waveform of the excitation period just before de-exciting in the non-excitation period of an electromagnet and displaying the same. CONSTITUTION:A DC electric power source 6 is controlled by an intermittent control circuit 7 to intermittently energize a DC coil 2. When a pulse generating circuit 8 supplies pulse current to a radio transmitting and receiving coil 4 while a control signal (c) is 1, ultrasonic waves propagates in a material 1 to be inspected, and the reflected ultrasonic waves from a flaw 1F and a bottom surface 1B are supplied via the coil 4 and an amplifier 12 to a cathode ray tube 13. On the other hand, when the control signals (c) goes to 0, a sweep signal generating circuit 11 stops sweeping on de-exciting of the coil 2, but the tube 13 has after-glow characteristic and the flaw detection waveform in the excitation period just before this is displayed in the tube 13. Thereby, the change in display image plane at every period of the intermittent excitation of the DC coil is obviated and the operator's fatigue is reduced.
