Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect the presence or not of any defect easily by making the shape signal of a specimen from the reflected wave signal outputted from a gate circuit and subtracting the shape signal from the reflected wave signal. CONSTITUTION:When an oscillating circuit 9 generates pulses, a pulse generating circuit 10 generates pulses, by which pulses a radio transmitting and receiving vibrator 1a generates ultrasonic waves. The ultrasonic waves enter a specimen 2. On the other hand, the pulses of the circuit 9 are applied to a gate circuit 14 as well. The gated receiving signal is stored in a storage circuit 18 by a storage circuit control circuit 17. A shape signal generating circuit 16 makes the shape signal corresponding to the shape of the specimen 2 from the receiving signal and stores the same in a storage circuit 19. The content of the circuit 19 is subtracted from the content of the circuit 18 by a subtractor 20, and the result of the subtraction is fed together with the scanning signals generated by a position signal generator 12 and a scanning signal generator 11, to a display device 21, and at the same time, the presence of any defect or not is decided in a defect decision circuit 22.
