Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the adhesion of the cathode active material and reduce the consumed quantity of lead or the like, by sticking lead or the like on the surface of the base after soaking in a resin solution, said surface of the base of a lead storage battery composed of a synthetic resin base and a lead current collector. CONSTITUTION:A base 3 made by incorporating a lead collector 1 and a synthetic resin base 2 in a body, is introduced to pass through a resin solvent impregnation unit 4, and the surface layer of the synthetic resin base 2 is made soft. On the other hand, lead powder 7 or heat resisting metallic powder in the first hopper 6 is made to drop on a conveyor 5. Then, the treated base 3 is moved on the lead powder 7 on the conveyor 5, and lead powder 7 or the like in the second hopper 6' is made to drop. Next, the lead powder 7 or the like is forcibly buried in the softened surface layer of the base 3 with a press roller 8. Then, the base 3 is sent to a drying process, and its resin solvent is volatilized. By these processes, excellent adhesive property can be secured at the time of packing a cathode active material, while a base 3 of a lead storage battery provided with lead powder 7 or the like buried in its surface can be steadily obtained.
