Abstract
PURPOSE:To cool a cast ingot uniformly by supplying a constant amount of a gas refrigerant, mixing this with a desired amount of a liquid refrigerant determined by the cooling pattern by casting rates and steel types, atomizing the mixture and spraying the same. CONSTITUTION:The signal of a reference value setter 22 is received in an operator 23, and the operation signal is introduced into a cooling water controller 24, which operates a control valve 4 by cooling water flow rates. The cooling water flows through a master pipe 1, a main pipe 2, a flow rate meter 3, and the valve 4 then through the 1st cooling water header pipe 6, the 2nd cooling water header pipe 6', and a nozzle supply pipe 9 and arrives at a mixing part 10. On the other hand, a pressurized gas is controlled of velocity of discharge flow at a constant value of about >=100Nm/s in a control valve 16 by a pneumatic controller 25 and flows to the mixing part via the 1st pneumatic header pipe 17 and the 2nd pneumatic header pipe 17'. Here, the gas and the liquid are mixed together and the fine particle mists are sprayed uniformly from spray nozzles 11 to the surface of an ingot S, whereby the ingot S is cooled.
