Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily and economically remove phosphorous compounds by adding ≥1 kinds of metals selected from iron, zinc and manganese or their oxides to phosphorous-compound-contg. water controlled to 5W8pH.
CONSTITUTION: After the pH of phosphorus-compound-contg. water is controlled to 5W8, ≥1 kinds of metals selected from the group consisting of iron, zinc and manganese or their oxides are added and are allowed to react with phosphorous compounds. For example, a polyphosphoric acid is added as P2O5 at 20ppm to 200ml tap water, and its pH is controlled to 6.4 by using dilute sulfuric acid and an aqueous soln. of caustic soda. About 2g of iron powder of 100W250 meshes is added as an adsorbent to this, after which the mixture is stirred for about 10min with a magnetic stirrer, and iron powder and the reaction product such as partly formed ferric hydroxide are filtered.
