Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the invasion of a disposed liquid into a catalyst converter and lowering of the performance of the converter by welding a front muffler and a rear muffler plated with chromium beforehand at the front and rear ends of the converter and further by applying heat and rust resisting coat on each of the welded parts.
CONSTITUTION: The rear end of an outer tube 31 plated with chromium beforehand is fitted in a member 19 supporting the front part of an assembled catalyst converter 10 and so-fitted part is welded 28 on its whole periphery. The front end of a rear muffler 9 plated with chromium beforehand is fitted in a member 22 supporting the rear part of the converter 10 and so-fitted part is welded 29 on its whole periphery. The rear end of an exhaust manifold 7 plated with chromium beforehand is welded 34 on the front end of a front maffler 8. And after a protector 37 plated with chromium beforehand is welded 38 each of the welded part is covered with heat and rust resisting coat.
