Abstract
PURPOSE: To eliminate the back-lash between a pinion shaft and a rack shaft, by furnishing the rack shaft with a revolutional force utilizing a bearing for the rack shaft situated in a gear housing.
CONSTITUTION: In the gear housing, bearings 5, 6 slidably supporting the rack shaft 2 are provided. The bearing 6 comprises an inner cylinder 11 fitted to the rack shaft 2, an outer cylinder 12 fixed to the gear housing 1, and a rubber bush 13 unrotatably interposed between the inner cylinder 11 and the outer cylinder 12. Accordingly, by the meshing of the pinion 8 with the rack 4, the rack shaft 2, during the steering, is rotated while twisting the rubber bush 13 of the bearing 6, and therefore the rack and part of the pinion are meshed deeply to eliminate the back-lash.
