Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent ill effect due to a sizing agent present on the surface of a transfer paper, by using a transfer paper treated with a cyclopentadienilide antioxidant on its surface in an image transfer step. CONSTITUTION:The transfer paper to be used is treated on its surface with a cyclopentadienilide type antioxidant represented by the formula I in which X is P or S and R is phenyl or alkyl, and it is brought into contact with the developed face of a photoreceptor or the like, resulting in not attaching a sizing agent present on the transfer paper but only the antioxidant to the surface of the photoreceptor. This antioxidant prevent oxidation of the surface by ozone produced in corona discharge. This antioxidant treatment is carried out immediately before the transfer step of electrophotography by spraying, brush coating, or by a direct face contact method using a belt.
