Abstract
PURPOSE:To minimize fluctuation in height while a seam passes through a suspending interval, by controlling a tension at a value in a prescribed range when the seam of a strip passes through the interval. CONSTITUTION:When the tension of a strip A being carried through a heat-treating furnace in a suspending condition is TA, the strip A is formed in a regular suspending line R. Similarly, when the tension of a strip B is TB, the strip B is formed in a regular suspending line R. A tension T when a seam between strips A and B passes through the suspending interval is controlled by adjusting the revolution of rolls 5, 6 for carrying strips at the both ends. A suspending line when the tension T is controlled as mentioned above is put close to the regular suspending line R by setting T at a constant value determined in the range of TA<T<TB when TA< TB or in the range of TA>T>TB when TA>TB.
