Abstract

PURPOSE: A zinc-rich paint requiring no mist coat during top coating, which is obtad. by compounding a tetraalkyl silicate precondensate, a polyvinyl butyral zinc dust, carbon black and a pigment.
CONSTITUTION: A paint of pigment volume concentration 40W60% prepared by compounding 12W25wt% binder comprising a tetraalkyl silicate precondensate and a polyvinyl butyral resin and contg. SiO2 of the precondensate and the polyvinyl butyral resin in a proportion of 7/3W2/8, 75W85wt% zinc dust, 0.1W10wt% carbon black and/or graphite, each based on the total solids in the paint, and the balance of a loading pigment and/or a coloring paint.
