Abstract

PURPOSE: To impart a predetermined correct and constant tension to a material with respect to an abrupt external disturbance as well as at normal time by detecting the displacement of a control element movable part and controlling the take-up and delivery speeds.
CONSTITUTION: A material 1 is delivered from a delivery reel 2 and taken up to a take-up reel 3. The material 1 is guided by guide rollers 4, 5 and 6. The guide roller 6 is wound and suspended between a drive roller 9 and a roller 10, and supported by a belt 7 driven by a motor 8. By the drive of the motor 8 the pressure-fitting force of the guide roller 6 is varied and controlled so that no variation is produced by the tension of the material 1. The speed of at least one of the take-up reel 3 and the delivery reel 2 is controlled so that the displacement of the tension control element becomes minimum.
