Abstract

PURPOSE: To automatically regulate the particle size of various materials, by calculating the particle sizes of the various material, which will be loaded into a shaft furnace, as an average particle size distribution value through a TV camera and a computer, and controlling a gate in accordance with the calculated value.
CONSTITUTION: The TV camera 6 that is synchronized with a stroboscope 7 shoots successively falling sintered ore 1, and the standstill picture is sent to a camera controller 5. The camera controller 5 performs its procedure of a predetermined sampling inspection for estimating the particle size distribution from the popullation of the sintered ore 1. The standstill picture information from the camera controller 5 is inputted into the computer 8 where the particle size and the weight of the sintered ore are measured based on the area of the individual particles and the number of the sintered ore 1 in the picture, and the average particle size distribution value is calculated from the picture taken α times. Then according to the predetermined relationship of the persentage of fine particles of the sintered ore and the opening of the gate, the opening of the gate corresponding to the calculated value is inputted into an opening controller 9.
