Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the S/N by lowering the stereo separation degree and the cut- off frequency of LPF provided at the output side of a stereo demodulation circuit, through a noise detection signal based on the strength of received electric field and high band noise component. CONSTITUTION:When the level of an input signal VIFIN of an IF is lowered, a tuning meter driving voltage Vc is decreased and the gain of a 38kHz switching signal supply circuit 22 is reduced, then the stereo separation is lowered. The volage Vc is applied also to a cutoff frequency controlling circuit and the cutoff frequency is lowered by decreasing the 1st and 2nd variable impedances 61, 62. An output proportional to the amplitude of a high band noise signal is obtained by giving an FM detection signal to an HPF1 and a level detector 2. This output is in wired-AND connection to a tuning meter driving lines via an inverting circuit. Thus, when the high band noise signal is increased, the tuning meter driving voltage Vc is lowered with the control voltage inversely proportional to it and the stereo separation and cutoff frequency are lowered.
