Abstract
PURPOSE:To stabilize a control loop by providing a control loop for the tracking of a main beam in addition to a control loop for that of a subordinate beam, and by controlling the subordinate beam so that its error voltage is within a constant range. CONSTITUTION:A main beam is position-modulated by a modulating signal 40 generated by an oscillator 15 and converted by a photoelectric converter 7 into an electric signal, which is applied to a sample holding circuit 24 to obtain a tracking error voltage. The tracking error voltage is applied to voltage comparators 29 and 30 and when it is in a range of certain threshold levels, it is judged that the main beam is scanning on an information track. When, however, it goes beyond the threshold level range, a capacitor 36 for voltage storage is charged or discharged in response to a pulse 47 and its voltage is added to a reference value 18 to generate a new reference value for the tracking of a subordinate beam, thereby performing tracking by driving a moving coil 9.
