Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a hologram of less optical loss and excellent durability by recording a hologram by exposing a dichromated gelatin (DCG) film to a laser beam then removing unnesessary Cr2O7 ions by dipping the DCG film in an alkali solution. CONSTITUTION:A material made of a glass substrate applied with a gelatin film or obtained by subjecting hardening treatment with formalin to said film after removing silver salt from a silver-salt dry plate by a fixing treatment, is dipped in a solution of (NH4)2Cr2O7, etc., to incorporate Cr2O7 ions, to provide photosensitivity to said material. After this gelatin film is dried, an argon laser beam from a light source LS is separated through a beam splitter BS into two beams, which are reflected by mirrors Ma and Mb to strike the gelatin film R on a substrate BS, attaining hologram recording. Then, the film R is washed with desalted water and, after being dipped in about 10pH aqueous ammonia for 10-170 minutes, washed with deionized water and dried rapidly at about 110 deg.C surface temperature to obtain a hologram. Thus, the well durable hologram having >=80% diffraction efficiency is obtained.
