Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent an electrode from staining due to toner remaining on a junction of a recording belt, by detecting the junction, and drawing down a multistylus head at proper timing in accordance with its detection signal. CONSTITUTION:When an electrostatic recording belt 2 is driven and a sensor region 7 having a junction 3 of the belt 2 as its center comes under a photosensor 6, this sensor detects the region 7, and produces a timing signal. This signal is inputted through a delay circuit 9 to a drive circuit 10, thus permitting a multistylus head 1 to be lifted before the junction 3 comes right under the head 1, and returns after it has passed, the head 1 to jump over the junction 3, and accordingly, the head 1 is prevented from being stained with remaining toner 5.
