Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize improvement of the outlook of a lead acid battery, as well as labor-saving of the manufacturing process by providing a frame body on the outer wall of a container in fusing and joining an upper lid and the upper end of the container, and thereby preventing and protruding lump from being formed on the outer surface of the container. CONSTITUTION:A container 1 made of a thermoplastic synthetic resin such as polypropylene, and an upper lid 2 made of the same material as the container 1 are fused and joined by use of a hot board 7. Here, in joining the container 1 and the lid 2, the container 1 is placed in a frame body 8, the hot board 7 is placed on the upper end of the container 1, and trailing part 6 of the lid 2 is made to touch the board 7, thereby making joining parts 4 and 4' to be fused. After that, the board 7 is removed, before the joining parts 4 and 4' are made to touch one another and are fixed through fusion by applying given pressure. Here, surplus molten resin remaining at the parts 4 and 4' protrudes only inwardly because of the frame 8 located over the outer walls of the parts 4 and 4', and protruding lumps 5 are formed on the inner wall of the container 1.
