CONSTITUTION:When a hot rolled steel sheet 6 comes into, a breadth detector comprising a temperature detector outputs a signal corresponding to the breadth A of the steel sheet 6; by this signals, on-off valves of cooling headers 11, 12 just corresponding to the breadth A of the steel sheet 6 are opened; hereby, the cooling water is sprayed from only headers 11, 12 just corresponding to the breadth A of the steel sheet 6. Thereupon, other cooling headers 11, 12 improper to cool the breadth A of the steel sheet 6 do not spray the cooling water so that the useless spray of cooling water is excluded.
