Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the hardness and the adhesive strength of an ultraviolet-curing paint film, by applying a pigment-contng. ultraviolet-curing paint onto the outside surface of a bottom-united metallic can body, radiating ultraviolet rays to cure the applied paint, and then printing a thermosetting printing ink on the treated surface.
CONSTITUTION: The pigment-contng. ultraviolet-curing paint is applied as an undercoat paint onto the outside surface of the bottom-united metallic can body. Just thereafter, ultraviolet rays are radiated to cure the applied paint surface. A thermosetting printing ink is then applied onto the cured paint film by printing. Thereafter, the ink and a clear paint are heated and dried to cure them into a desired intermediate hardness state. The surface is then heated and dried to cure them into a desired finished hardness state. That is, baking the undercoat paint at a desired rate is completed at the same time when the topcoat paint is baked. Thus, a heat applied to the printing ink, the clear paint and the inside paint film is used for completely baking the paint and the ink. Consequently, a necessary heat amount can be saved, and the adhesiveness of the undercoat paint can be enhanced.
