Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove inorganic impurity minerals adhered to or weakly combined with coal with consumption of small amounts of power by irradiation of supersonic wave of a specific frequency onto aqueous coal slurry containing a specific proportion of pulverized coal of less than a fixed grain size.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous coal slurry containing 10W60pts.wt. pulverized coal of a mixmum grained size of 10mm or less is flowed down from the inclined face of a supersonic cleaner (b), during which a supersonic wave of 15W50kHz frequencies is irradiated on the aqueous coal slurry. Thus, inorganic impurity minerals, e.g., ash, sulfur, etc, present in the coal can be effectively removed continuously with consumption of small amounts of power.
