Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain stable optical fiber with low loss by bundling bar-like materials annularly so that their outer peripheries come into contact mutually, and by elongating them, lengthwise by heating them from their peripheral sides while a space having small thermal capacity is provided in the center part. CONSTITUTION:Bar-like material 1a-1f of quartz glass are bundled together annularly in contact, and in their center, a space 3 having small thermal capacity is provided.
