Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the production process of high accuracy and high volume productivity and economy by the simple method of arraying a plurality of glass bars having the same section so as to contact at the longer side, and heating and stretching these. CONSTITUTION:Glass bars 6 having the same rectangular section are arrayed so as to contact at the longer side. At this time, these are arrayed with a deviation by the length of the shorter side. Next, the glass bars 6 are heated up to the melting point, after which they are stretched by being applied with even tension in the axial direction, whereby the section of the glass bars 6 is reduced. Next, the glass bars 6' with the reduced section are cut out to a suitable length. In this stretching process, the grooves 7 also reduce at the same ratio owing to the reduction of the glass bars 6. This reduction may be achieved evenly at an arbitrary reduction rate and its dimensional accuracy may by reduced as well by controlling of the tension and the rate of stretching. In this way, the production process of high accuracy and high volume productivity and economy may be obtained.
