Abstract

PURPOSE:To make an HPF unnecessary, to simplify the circuit constitution and to reduce the cost, by adding a canceling function for a pilot signal to a variable gain circuit making level adjustment of a differential signal component. CONSTITUTION:An AM broadcast signal is inputted to an RF amplifying stage 1. The RM amplification outout signal and a local oscillation signal formed at a local oscillation circuit 3 are mixed in a frequency mixing circuit 2 and inputted to an intermediate frequency amplifying stage 4 through frequency conversion. This intermediate frequency amplification output signal is detected at an AM detector 5 for a sum signal L+R. This detected output is inputted to a matrix circuit 13 forming a stereo reproducing signal and an AGC filter 6 to obtain an AGC voltage. This AGC voltage is used for the gain control of the RF amplifying stage 1, intermediate frequency amplification state 4, and variable gain circuit 9. The intermediate frequency amplifying signal is inputted to a PM detector 8 through a limiter amplifier 7 to form a differential signal L-R and a pilot signal P. The presence of the pilot signal detected at an LPF11 makes desired displays via a lamp driver 12.
