Abstract
PURPOSE: To automatically open and close a gate without powered-operation when reaching a prescribed limit water level, by a method wherein the gate and a weight, being different in weight, are hung at sluice column by means of a rope so that they can alternately and freely move vertically, and a braking device, which works corresponding to the vertical change in a water level, is located on said rope.
CONSTITUTION: When a water level is raised to a set water level 20', buoyancy increases, the weight of a suspension substance 17 decreases, and a brake shoe of a braking device 18 is reduced in pressure. A weight 8 is heavier than a gate 2 coupled to the weight by means of a rope 2 (in the case of the prevention of a back flow, the weight can be lighter). Thus, braking of a driving wheel 10, coupled to a driving chain sprocket 6, is deengaged, and as a result, the weight 8 is lowered to a position shown in an imaginary line from a position shown in a solid line, and simultaneously, the gate 2 moves upward to open a water path. The drive wheel 10 of the driving chain sprocket 6 is coupled to a prime mover for rotation, and thereby, in the ordinary case, this permits the alternate and vertical movement of the gate 2 and the weight 8.
