Abstract
PURPOSE:To make a beam spot small in diameter and round in all regions and improve resolution by forming a tetrode magnetic field lens which changes its intensity depending on the deflection between an electron gun and a deflection yoke. CONSTITUTION:A tetrode magnetic pole 5 is provided at the intra-tube section between an electron gun 3 and a deflection yoke 4 and excited by an electromagnet 6 which is provided outside the tube. When proper current is applied to the coil 20 of the electromagnet 6, an electron beam is bent in a vertically long cross-sectional shape and horizontal deflection distortion can be corrected. When proper current is also applied to the coil 24 of the electromagnet 6, the electron beam is bent in a horizontally long cross-sectional shape and vertical deflection distortion can be corrected.
