CONSTITUTION:The electron beam emitted from an electron agun 11 in a vacuum enclosure 10 strikes a phosphor screen which is coated on the vacuum side of a transparent substrate 12 and emits a phosphor. In the eletron gun 11, a heater 15 which heats a cathode 14 which becomes an electron beam source is mounted in the cathode 14 ane the first grid 16 that controls the quantity of an electron beam from this cathode 14 is opposed to the cathode 14. This first grid 16 provides two flat plate-shaped electrodes 17a and 17b which form the second grid 17 and an alignment electrode 30.
