Abstract

PURPOSE:To limit the level of the recording input, by automatically detecting the maximum recording level of a magnetic tape and comparing the signal of detection with the input signal level. CONSTITUTION:The output of an oscillator 1 is increased in terms of its amplitude at each certain time by the signal supplied from a counter circuit 3 and then recorded on a magnetic tape 8 through a recording head 7 and via recording amplifiers 5 and 6. At the same time, this output is also applied to a rectifying circuit 9, and the corresponding signal is supplied to a comparator 17. While the signal reproduced through a reproducing head 14 is applied to the comparator 17 via a rectifying circuit 16. The operation of the circuit 3 is stopped with the output signal of the comparator 17, and the level at this moment is maintained. The recording input signal is recorded on a tape via a line amplifier 10, a switch S1 plus the amplifiers 5 and 6, and at the same time applied to a rectifying circuit 12 to be compared with the maximum recording level through a comparator 13.
