Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect and display the maximum recording level of a magnetic tape automatically, by comparing the output levels of rectifier circuits 7, 10 with a comparator 11, for the detection of recording and reproduction levels. CONSTITUTION:A sinusoidal wave oscillating output 1 and a rectangular wave oscillation output 2 are applied to a level modulator 3, and modulation is made so that the level of the sinusoidal wave signal can be increased stepwise. This level modulation output is amplified with a recording amplifier 4 and supplied to a recording head 5 for recording to a magnetic tape 6. Further, the level modulation output is inputted to a rectifier smoothing circuit 7 via a resistor R1 and the level of the recording signal is detected. On the other hand, a signal reproduced with a playback head 8 is detected for the playback signal level with a rectifier smoothing circuit 10. The recording level output and the playback level signal output are compared 11 and when the difference between both levels exceeds a prescribed value, a comparison detecting signal is produced.
