Abstract
PURPOSE:To form stably an insoluble elecdrode which is excellent in workability, strength, high conductivity or the like, by applying onto a substrate a paste, then drying, sintering, and cooling slowly the substrate; the former paste being prepared by mixing liquid ceramics and carbon powder, and then by kneading well. CONSTITUTION:The liquid ceramics whose principal ingredient is alumina or silica, is added with carbon powder to make a mixture, which is mixed and kneaded well to produce a ceramic paste paint. The metal substrate is covered with this paste at an ordinary temperature, and then dried. Next, it is heated and calcined in an electric furnace, then removed from the furnace and cooled slowly. As for the painted layer prepared by this process, a crack does not occur, this painted layer is excellent in workability, so that electrode which satisfies the insolubility, impermeability, mechanical strength and high conductivity is obtainable at a low price.
