Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform accurate positioning for operation of melt-sticking connection by moving a fiber by a prescribed extent through a cam, and by using a micrometer head driven by a motor for the following movement. CONSTITUTION:Moving tables 4'' and 4''' for fixing a sheath part slant to fixing V grooves 3 and 3', and the rotation of a motor 12' turn a cam 11' to lower a stopper 6 with projections 9' and 8', so that the moving table 4'' rotates on a pin 27. Consequently, a fiber slides on the V groove 3 forward through the rotation of a part 2. When the interval between end surface of the fibers reaches 10-30mum, the projection 8' falls off from the cam 11' and a spherical projection 27' strikes a micrometer head 14. Then, the moving table 4'' further moves to the left through the rotation of the micrometer head 14 to perform discharge between electrodes, thus making a melt-sticking connection between the fibers.
